Lunas Construction Cleanup started from just one man. Manuel Madrigal. He came to America in the 60’s with nothing but high hopes, big dreams, and the will to make a difference. He started out washing dishes in California at a restaurant called the Jolly Troyer for only $1.25 an hour. He was trying to buy a car, and in no time he was able to move up the job ladder and afford one, for $300. The car led to bigger and better things, and soon he was working for a construction cleanup company that moved him out to Las Vegas to open the new division. It was 1979. Through the next few years, he built both his reputation and his company’s throughout Las Vegas. When the company began to go in a direction that was not up to Manuel’s high ethic standards, he separated from them to start his own business in 1988.
It was Manuel, his wife, and his children that made the Lunas team, and there was no turning back from there. Once the word got out to Manuel’s contacts that he had gone into business, the phone began ringing off the hook. Lunas construction was adding a new vehicle to the fleet almost every month. With Mrs. Madrigal washing windows and the Madrigal children sweeping floors a unity was formed that would last forever. To this day, the family is the cornerstone of the Madrigal business.
Recycling is the Solution.
Originally, the cleanup offered by Lunas consisted of hauling debris to the local landfill for $20 a load. But one morning in 1994, their trucks arrived at the landfill to find out that the prices had been raised to $150! Lunas was frantic. They did not want to foist off the price increase on their loyal customers, so they had to think outside the box. And they looked to recycling. The loads that were brought in were sorted for any materials that could be recycled and reused instead of being taken to the landfill. This started Lunas on the track to become the Green Eco-Friendly company they are today.
Dumpsters & Bins
In the meantime, the Lunas Company was being asked to haul bigger and bigger loads. They discovered a new type of truck that hauled huge dumpsters. This new piece of equipment formed a new branch in the Lunas tree. The public began to see the yellow dumpsters with the Lunas logo driving around town and began to call to see where they could get one. And thus the dumpster rental division of the company was born. The demolition division was created the same way. Lunas was asked to cleanup after a burned out property, and they discovered that it was not only profitable but fun.
First & Largest in Southern Nevada.
Today, Lunas has become the largest company in its industry. They continue to focus on the dumpster and demo divisions, and those all give fuel to the growing recycling plant. Their dedication to making this world a better place has prompted Lunas’ newest project, a 60 thousand square foot building dedicated entirely to recycling. It will also help educate the public on how thinking and going Green is a benefit to the future of each and every individual. The new facility will be opened by early 2009.
Like any business, the Lunas success is determined by its workers. Lunas would like to thank its loyal hardworking staff that has contributed long hours and hard work to its success.
